A bank holiday weekend is looming. What can you do?It's just two weeks till the next UK public holiday; what are you waiting for?
It’s just two weeks till the next UK public holiday; what are you waiting for? You know the weather won’t play ball, and you know a staycation isn’t really what you want. If you live near London or within an hour or two of any major airport, you could spend less time getting to our beautiful, peaceful, boutique hotel in the heart of Valletta than it would take you to get to your nearest seaside resort.
Imagine, instead of staring at the boot of another car, you could be marveling at the baroque architecture surrounding you at every angle; Malta is less than 3 hours from Gatwick or Heathrow, has 360 days of sunshine a year, is safe, English speaking with Sicilian inspired food. Have we convinced you yet?
How about the fact that there are flights with AirMalta that allow you to leave work on a Friday as normal and be back at your desk before lunch on Tuesday? And there are more lo cost airlines than you can shake a stick at that offer 8 flights a day to our Mediterranean gem.
Instead of arriving at your destination tired and too late to eat, arrive at ours and we can arrange collection from the airport, a reservation at one of the hundred local eateries, and have a luxury suite ready for you to collapse into once you have made the most of your first evening in vibrant Valletta.
Whilst our daylight hours may be shorter, the country is ‘compact and bijoux’ and while there is plenty to explore, if you are on the road for an hour, you’ll pretty much have driven from top to bottom of the archipelago. Our concierge can plan a 72-hour schedule for you, just tell us what you like and what you want to experience.
How about this for a Saturday? Breakfast on your terrace followed by a private walking tour of the city focusing on your area of interest; the knights, the military, architecture, religion….. before lunch in a casual al fresco restaurant, and then a boat trip from the bastions to the Three Cities to walk it off.
Have an ice cream while you are there and take a watertaxi back across the grand harbour for sunset drinks at Casa Ellul and then cross to one of the theaters for a show that costs less than two drinks in London.
On Sunday, take a trip to the market and pick up some souvenirs for your friends and family, take some pictures of the sea with iconic boats ready for a new screensaver….. Have lunch here, the capital of fresh seafood and fish, and on the way back to Valletta, stop off at one of the sets of temples that pepper the countryside. Take in the events of the day with a soak in the hot tub on your terrace before supper in a speakeasy in town.
Not to gloat, but on Monday, you could spend the day on the beach or a boat trip – we’ll organise a picnic for you to take and you can concentrate on catching a few rays and get that healthy glow that proves further your decision to pop to Malta for the long weekend was the right decision. Stop en route to the hotel for a traditional fenkata in a farmhouse perhaps? The flight back is pretty early but it won’t stop you getting good nights sleep in our marshmallow beds with your own choice of pillow from the pillow menu.
