Isle of MTV Malta Music Week 2018 – Where To Stay & What To Do?
- Apr 28, 2018
If you like dance music, beach parties and beats you’ll love visiting Valletta in June during the Isle of MTV Malta Festival 2018!
Malta is filled with music in June. ‘Isle of MTV’s music takes over Valletta’s neighbouring town Floriana, from 27th June to 1st July, with an exciting line up of some of the world’s biggest artists including Jess Glynne, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga and The Chemical Brothers. Some concerts like the Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike concert in Il-Fosos Square are free if you register in advance online via the Isle of MTV Malta Music Website, or you can buy individual gig tickets or club entry from €6.99. On the website you’ll see a full list of sunset pool parties, VIP packages and after parties too.
Aside from the MTV special events, there will be plenty going on in all the independent clubs and bars who will be joining the music week party with special Djs, live music and drinks offers.
Where To Stay During MTV Malta Music Week
Even the hardiest of festival and clubgoers will need to rest and recharge. Valletta is just a short bus ride away from Floriana, easy enough to get to the heart of the Music Week Action but far enough away for a good night’s sleep! Throughout music week there is a lot of traffic on the roads, especially getting into Floriana. Accommodation in Floriana can be noisy too. So, you’re better off staying away and instead opting for a relaxing luxury boutique hotel in Valletta where you can put your feet up and grab some nutritious food ready for the next day of parties. Valletta boasts some of Malta’s most beautiful accommodation, including Casa Ellul where you can relax in the rooftop hot tub overlooking the city, soaking up the last of the sunset with your own music.
What Not To Miss Whilst In Malta?
We hope that during your stay over music week you won’t simply stay in bed hungover! Get out and explore all that Malta has to offer, see some sights and get some fresh air, sun, sea and sand at some of the beautiful beaches. Valletta is the perfect starting point to travel to many of Malta’s hidden gems.
Take a bus to the ‘Three Cities‘ or even better go by boat, definitely a much quicker option. Walk along Vittoriosa’s narrow streets and observe beautiful old charming houses and architectural buildings, enjoy a cappuccino in one of the small quaint cafés and enjoy a lunch at Birgu Waterfront with a view of massive yachts.
Or else head to Gozo, why not! – Ramla Bay has a stretch of beach around a mile long with sand the colour of sunsets. The boat trips over can vary from a speedy water taxi to a leisurely ferry, or if you’re in a large group consider a private charter and cruise around the bays for the day.
If you have a longer holiday make time for Marsaxlokk, a working fishing village bustling during the day with market stalls. A short walk away is St Peter’s Pool, for a swim in the crystal-clear waters and cliff jumping for adrenaline junkies. Your Instagram stories will be filled with blue seas, sun and fun moments and there are plenty of views to be enjoyed around the island. After the beach you can taste some fresh fish for dinner at one of the many Marsaxlokk restaurants. ‘La Nostra Padrona’ for example, is fantastic if you want to sit right by the water.
If you only have time to stay in Valletta during your busy Malta Music Week schedule, then head to the waterfront of the Grand Harbour for a view of the beautifully coloured wooden doors, walk along the old Valletta streets and check out the Barrakka Gardens. Valletta is packed with amazing restaurants, Zero Sei, Risette Restaurant & Trabuxu are amongst the best. Whilst Strait Street is the place to go for a sociable drink, where all the other revellers will be hanging out.
Enjoy your time and book as soon as you can in advance to find the best places to stay during Malta Music Week!
