With direct flight times of less than 3 hours from most European cities, Malta is perfectly placed for a weekend break at any time of year, but its even better for long weekends! Malta is a steeped in history, rich in natural beauty and there’s always something going on. Around religious feast we celebrate with band music, processions and street parties. There are feasts most weekends celebrating the village’s saint; the statue is paraded with the villagers following its journey.

Easter weekend is one of the biggest festas with Good Friday processions and the celebrations of Easter Sunday being prominent in many villages. One village which is famous for its Easter Sunday parade is Birgu, a short walk and watertaxi ride away.

Antique stalls and trendy food trucks compete for your tastebuds; traditional sweets, nougat studded with nuts, fresh doughnuts, and a soft drink – Orzata – made from almonds and our own street food favourites, Hobz Biz –Zejt (a tomato, tuna and olive sandwich) and pastizzi – filo pastry pies with ricotta or mushy peas as fillings, jostle for your attention.

Flags and ornate banners dress the streets and you’re guaranteed to see fireworks. The church bells that peel evoke the sense of feeling by Christians at this time of year, a special ‘tune’.

Our boutique hotel is right in the centre of the city, a couple of hundred meters from the main street and close to restaurants and bars, so you can go by foot to everything if just being relaxed is what you want to do this Easter.
