There are a few associations with Malta that are immediately conjured; the Knights, the George Cross, no sandy beaches (there are, we just keep them secret), we drive on the left and our beautiful baroque capital city, Valletta.
Perfectly aligned to showcase the architecture is a festival which is firmly established on the international music scene, the Valletta Baroque Festival, now in its fifth year.
The Festival takes place every January, this 2017 one being between the 12th to 28th with top international baroque musicians and ensembles performing in 24 different events in 9 different venues in Valletta, Malta’s baroque capital city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Centering around the Teatru Manoel, one of the oldest working theatres in Europe the Festival extends to the magnificence of St John’s Co-Cathedral, the atmospheric Valletta churches, the splendid Grandmasters’ Palace, the auberges and other baroque edifices.
The concerts are at various times of day and all within walking distance (though we can arrange segways if you’d prefer) of Casa Ellul. Indeed, the Manoel Theatre is a few steps away!
The festival is going from strength to strength and the 2017 edition offers an enhanced children’s programme, chamber music, marionettes and choirs.
