Malta boasts 300 sunny days every year…so you might feel like luck isn’t on your side if your stay coincides with a rainy week.
Worry not, as there are a myriad of things to do in Valletta on a rainy day. Here are 5 activities to get you started.
Visit a museum…or two
Valletta is blessed with some world-class museums. Now’s your chance to visit one…or two. If you’re fascinated by World War II, head over to the National War Museum or the Lascaris War Museum. The National Museum of Archeology is always worth a visit. If you’re an art aficionado, MUŻA, Blitz Valletta and Valletta Contemporary are a must.
Explore the city’s churches and chapels
There are around 28 churches in Valletta. Undoubtedly, St. John’s Co-Cathedral is the most popular: its Baroque interior is the epitome of the Maltese Baroque movement. The Co-Cathedral is home to several notable pieces of art, including Caravaggio’s The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.
Indulge in food
Valletta is the islands’ gastronomic hub – it houses everything from pastizzerias to Mediterranean fusion restaurants to authentic Indian eateries. Check out our blog post What to Eat in Valletta? for some eatery recommendations.
